Shrubland Hall

This ancient part of the United Kingdom is steeped in the history of the Anglo-Saxons and the Romans’. Shrubland Hall is a cherished country estate with a deer park, ornamental gardens, parkland, orchids, oak and chestnut trees. It is one of the most glorious and beautiful buildings in our national heritage. Built in 1770 by James Paine, it is a large and opulent Georgian Palace with Regency additions and an interior to rival many of the UK’s great houses. The Italianate gardens were styled by Sir Charles Barry with parkland designed by Sir Humphrey Repton. Shrubland Hall has hosted some of the world’s first sporting tournaments including tennis, boxing and horse racing. Its visitors have included Queen Victoria, Prince Albert, barons, ambassadors, celebrities, sport professionals, Prime Ministers and Presidents.
